Website host has informed customers that the AC in the server space died, and the backup unit is running, but not a permanent solution. Also, the HVAC people will need to get into the server space to complete installation of any replacement, which will require turning machines off so they don’t vacuum up the inevitable dust. When this will happen, we don’t know yet. (It’s Friday the 13th. Let’s all perform whatever rituals it takes to make this go smoothly and the HVAC equipment & teams be available, OK?) I follow the website host on Twitter, where announcements of progress will appear.
But should this and the other sites disappear suddenly, that’s why. Panic not–We Shall Return.

I think I witnessed the disaster yesterday when the RSS feed tried to download. I got a “server error” message. But later I found that the latest post had downloaded (the one before this one.) Thanks for letting us know. All will be well–I have not seen the neighborhood black cat lately.

Ours has been running on borrowed time for a year now and we’ve just gotten authorization to replace the old unit. So we’re going to be having drilling, etc. happening most of next week as they replace the thing.
I guess they’ve been moving computers around the last three days in preparation. (I’ve been out of the office at a professional conference the past two days so I’ve missed out on that chore. 🙂 )
I’ll let you know how that goes (if things aren’t dark here first).

Well, one day in, four days behind on a job expected to take a week. Hope your vendor’s not running into the unexpected like we are.
