My final Dragon*Con schedule, as of yesterday. I have an hour reading slot on Friday at 5:30 pm (a time when, frankly, I don’t expect many people to show up. Sensible people will be eating an early supper. Gratitude will be abundant for those who do show. Surprise me by stuffing the room with avid fans and something amazing may happen. )
For anyone interested, since I don’t have a new book out this year, my donations to the charity auction will be Tuckerizations (you get to be a character in something), one for an appearance in a Vatta book, and one for an appearance in a Paksworld story to be published (eventually) as part of a collection. More details available at the convention.
For the rest of the schedule, read on…

I like the last one on shelf editing.

Hmmm…it reads “self-editing” on my computer. But yes, shelf-editing is also painful (and necessary at times) and I should (but probably won’t) prune my shelves of books not read for fifteen years or so. Though “I might need them someday.”

Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise, I’ll be at the reading. Looking forward!!

After 70 years of collecting books I decided to do a shelf edit, and yes you guessed it, 3 days later I realized just what I had done. I hurried to the charity shop but too late to redeem a much loved copy of a book no longer in print. Please shelf editors be very careful of what you do, it can save many tears later on

Have a lovely time at DC. I wanted to get on and tell of slightly comical encounter with a walking horse yesterday at the state fair. He was the only one in the barn that was being allowed to stick his head out the door. I am sure because he was a natural with people.
He kept swing his head back and forth to have his head “petted” by the children. When he got all the way to the one side he kept trying to get a nibble of the Greek yogurt his person was snacking on. She kept telling him that was for her and to go meet all the people.
This reminded me of the discussions we’ve had on the blog here about smart horses.
Going back for seconds today. So I need to get hustling.

He sounds like one of the very smart geldings. Signs of a sense of humor + social skills. If he’s entire, he’s quite unusual. All praise to his person, since the person sets the tone for “how to be charming to humans.” Some come by it more naturally than others. Some never get it.

Julia
The book was called “The Bond Between” by Violet Winspear. Thank you for the gracious offer but the cost of postage to me is exorbitant, and so I must put up with my senility, and decline your thoughtfulness.

I have to say that none of Elizabeths books have left the building

I commend both Julia Coldren-Walker for her thoughtful and gracious offer and PatriciaN for her equally gracious and thoughtful refusal.
Thank you both. You have brightened a day in which some other discussions have been far less gracious.
